The third instalment in the ‘Infinity Ring’ is an intricate
balance of intrigue, time travel, and factual recounts of
historical events, in particular the horrors of slavery in
America.
The Infinity Ring is an ongoing series of books aimed
at young teens that also includes an online gaming
component, which is great for fans of the tales who wish
to expand the experience beyond the pages.
Having not read the previous two books, I was not as
familiar with the characters Dak, Sera and Riq but soon
came to love them and was completely enthralled in
their adventure, despite the often confronting and dark
subject matter.
The year is 1850 and the American slave trade is dividing
the nation. Riq, being African American is caught and
sold into slavery, which adds a very personal touch to
the story. The ante is definitely upped for our heroes and
a literal race against time takes place to save Riq and
perhaps his family’s very existence.
With the fourth installment of ‘Infinity Ring’ set for
release in June, there is plenty of meaty reading for fans
while they wait, or if you are a latecomer to the party like
myself, you have a wealth to catch up on and get involved
with.
