June saw, as most months do at Scholastic, a wonderful group of books hit the shelves in bookstores. Some new exciting additions to already popular series and some new picture books are among the group of published works. Here is two of my favorite picture books that came out in June this year.
Hold on Tight is a beautiful book by Sara Acton whose work you may recognize from Daisy & The Puppy. Hold on Tight is a young girl’s fanciful daydream which looks at all the possibilities that could come from letting go of her mother’s hand. Intended for children aged 3-5, the illustrations are beautiful and vibrant and sure to be popular among young children. It inspires a sense of adventure and use of imagination in young girls through simple thoughts and brilliant artworks.

King Pig is another wonderful June released picture book by Scholastic. By the very talented Nick Bland who has bought as The Very Hungry Bear, The Magnificent Tree and The Runaway Hug – just to name a few. Bland brings us through this new book a story of power turned on its head. The Kind Pig has a following of sheep who do everything for him, however the king just wants them to like him. A wonderful story which can reflect a little of how society can be but is mostly a bit of fun. The illustrations are beautiful and its definitely a promising winner to give as a gift or a new addition to your home.
