Let me be frank by saying I didn’t want to read this book. Not that I thought it would be bad, but I am quite intolerant to soppy romance stories. But when looking into doing your honours on YA adult on illness and disability it had to be done.
Firstly, I was pleasantly surprised. I actually really enjoyed this book, and from what I’ve read it’s not a super washed over portrayal of cancer.
John Green introduces us to witty, charming and realistic teenage characters who are facing the grim reality of cancer. A story of romance, humor, bravery, anger and friendship that brings together a group of kids that show the light and dark sides of dealing with such a consuming disease at such a young age.
By now you’ve all probably seen the movie, read the book or heard about it, so I’m probably behind the eight ball on this one, but I definitely think it’s a great book for a young adult in your family or even for you.
I hope to get some new bloggers up and helping this month, so be ready for that!
